After a disappointing end to the open round at Snetterton; Matthew alongside his father returned to Thruxton with the classic sportscar club for round 2 of their season.
Having been two years since their last outing at Thruxton both was looking forward to a great race at one of their favourite circuits.
Qualifying saw Martyn take pole position overall, before Matthew jumped in for three laps setting a blistering 1:23:3! This took pole position by a staggering 4.2seconds over the chasing field.
Come the race and Matthew was to start, dropping into the 1:24's and pulling a command 50second lead before the half way point.
Martyn took over in the pitstop, and whilst taking a little longer to discuss the car came out some 35 seconds ahead of Alex Taylors Rx7; Himself struggling with the car overheating.
The chequered flag came out, Pole position, fastest lap and a race win by 50 seconds; well not quite... unfortunately Martyn was deemed to have speeded in the pitlane exit and hit with a 60 second penalty. This meant second overall and winning in class.
Oh so nearly perfect.
